Wrinkles are the most common sign of ageing
Wrinkles and fine lines are one of the most visible signs of ageing. Appearing as creases, folds or ridges in the skin, wrinkles naturally begin to develop as people get older.
Wrinkles typically first appear on a person’s face in areas where the skin naturally folds during facial expressions, however also appear on parts of the body that are frequently exposed to the sun, such as the face, neck, hands and arms. Unfortunately, wrinkles are inevitable with age and will affect everyone in time.
What causes wrinkles to appear?
Our skin becomes thinner, drier and less elastic with age. This is due to a breakdown of collagen in the skin – as we get older, our bodies can no longer produce enough collagen to replenish what has been lost. As our skin is less able to protect itself from damage, wrinkles, creases and lines begin to appear.
Facial expressions, including squinting, smiling and frowning, can also lead to the premature development of fine lines and wrinkles. When we are young, our skin bounces back from this more easily. As we age, the skin looses its flexibility and is unable to bounce back, resulting in deeper, permanent grooves.
Other factors can also lead to the development of lines and wrinkles, including sun exposure, smoking, pollution and stress.
Looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, or searching for a preventative measure? Depending on the type of wrinkles and your skin goals, we can rejuvenate the appearance of your skin using a number of medical grade technologies. Here at Dr Anh’s Medispa, we offer a number of treatments that reduce wrinkles, including:
Anti-wrinkle injections for wrinkles
Anti-wrinkle injections work to relax the muscles that lead to wrinkles by blocking the chemical nerve signals. This keeps movement to a minimum, ensuring that deep expression lines don’t form and become permanent. This softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and provides a tighter, smoother appearance.
Dermal fillers for wrinkles
Unlike anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers work to fill in lines and wrinkles. Particularly good for volumising the skin, dermal fillers can also prevent wrinkles from becoming deeper, as the filler makes it harder for the skin to fold further in these spaces.
CO2 laser resurfacing for wrinkles
CO2 laser resurfacing treatments utilise carbon dioxide as an ablative therapy to heat the deeper layers of the skin. This allows the body to break down damaged cells and stimulate the production of new collagen, in turn promoting a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles and revealing smoother, more youthful skin.
Fraxel for wrinkles
Fraxel laser skin resurfacing treatments penetrate beneath the skin’s surface to target damaged and ageing skin cells. By destroying those old, stressed skin cells, the body is forced to produce new collagen, which firms the skin and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
Chemical peels for wrinkles
During a chemical peel treatment, an acid solution will be applied to the skin to remove those outer layers of skin that are lined with fine creases and wrinkles. When the skin grows back, it will be appear both younger and smoother.
Dermapen for wrinkles
Dermapen skin needling treatments stimulate collagen production and skin renewal by making thousands of micro-punctures in the skin. Over time, the skin will become stronger, smoother and firmer, helping to visibly smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Dermapen treatments are a great alternative to laser, as treatments cause no damage to the epidermal layer of skin.
Exilis for wrinkles
Exilis skin tightening treatments combine ultrasound waves with radiofrequency to target the structures that keep the skin springy and tight. By heating up different layers of the skin, collagen production is stimulated and wrinkles are smoothed out. Exilis treatments yield natural results and are virtually pain free.
PRP for wrinkles
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections use the plasma from your own blood to stimulate cell repair and improve the health of your skin tissue. PRP injections can help to reverse the signs of age, including reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
