Facial volume is key to achieving a youthful appearance. Our medispa has all of the latest non surgical treatments available to restore lost volume, including dermal fillers, PRP, skin needling and more.
What is volume loss?
As we age, we begin to lose fat in our face, leading to a decrease in facial volume. This loss of volume often results in wrinkles, sagging and deep lines and depressions in the skin, leaving a once young, plump face looking thinner and older.
Volume loss can impact a number of facial features, including the lips, cheeks, forehead, temples and chin. Unfortunately, a loss of facial volume can alter the overall structure and shape or the face, making you look tired or sad. Although this is a normal consequence of age, many are looking for a solution that will allow them to maintain their youthful glow.
Why does the skin lose volume?
With time, a number of external and internal factors begin to work against the volume in your skin. As we age, the body’s production of collagen and elastin begins to slow.
Given that collagen is responsible for skin firmness and tone, and elastin provides the skin with elasticity, the loss of these two proteins can have a detrimental effect on the skin. Along with this, the ageing process also leads to a loss in bone mass, muscle mass and fat cells, further contributing to sagging and facial hollowing.
Other factors that can contribute to volume loss in the face include:
- Sun exposure
- Environmental aggressors
- Hormone imbalances
- Certain medications and medical conditions
Looking to restore lost volume and enhance your facial features once more? Depending on the extent of your volume loss and your ultimate skin goals, we can help restore a youthful appearance using a number of medical grade technologies. Here at Dr Anh’s Medispa, we offer a number of treatments to reverse volume loss, including:
Dermal fillers for volume loss
Dermal fillers are the ideal injectable treatment for adding volume back into the skin. Dermal fillers help to achieve more youthful appearance by firming and plumping up the skin, working to smooth out lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. While your body will eventually metabolise the filler, the treatment is designed to revolumise the skin for a number of months.
PRP for volume loss
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a great way to treat volume loss in the face, hands and neck. Treatments draw on the plasma within your own blood, using it to facilitate cell growth and stimulate collagen production. Over time, the skin will gradually become thicker, smoother and more supple.
Thread lift for volume loss
Thread lifting treatments use absorbable sutures to lift and reposition the skin on the face. Over time, the components of the suture threads are absorbed by the body, which stimulates collagen production to replenish lost facial volume. This technique is the ideal minimally invasive alternative to a surgical face lift.
Dermapen for volume loss
Dermapen treatments use a technique known as Collagen Induction Therapy to encourage the body’s natural wound healing response. By delivering micro-injuries to the skin, Dermapen treatments promote the renewal of fresh collagen and elastin, which can effectively smooth and volumise thinning, ageing skin.
Lip fillers for volume loss
A loss of volume in the lips can leave the mouth looking thin and undefined. Lip fillers are the ideal way to restore lost lip volume, helping patients achieve fuller lips, whilst also reducing the appearance of lines around the mouth. This ultimately gives the area around the mouth a far younger appearance.
