What is sagging skin?

Along with fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin is a natural effect of the ageing process and a common skin concern. This loss of skin definition can occur almost anywhere on the body, but the most common areas where you may see sagging skin include the eyelids, jowls, chin, neck, upper arms and stomach.

Age, sun damage, environmental factors, bad habits and gravity are amongst the factors leading to sagging skin. Although anyone can develop this skin concern, those most susceptible to sagging skin include older people and those who have lost a significant amount of weight. While everyone’s skin will begin to sag with time, many people are looking for a solution that will allow them to maintain a youthful look.

What causes the skin to sag?

Sagging skin is an inevitable sign of the natural ageing process. As we age, the outer layer of our skin naturally thins and our collagen production begins to slow. This is what keeps our skin looking plump, supple and youthful. When we lose this elasticity, our skin also loses its ability to “bounce back”.

Factors such as sun exposure, smoking, frequent facial expressions and sleep positions can also prematurely age your skin and lead to sagging. When it comes to sudden skin sagging, the biggest culprit is typically extreme or rapid weight loss, which gives the skin an over-stretched, saggy appearance. This is very common amongst women post pregnancy.

Our solutions

Depending on the severity of your sagging skin, the cause of the sagging and the overall condition of your skin, we can visibility rejuvenate your appearance using a number of medical grade technologies. Here at Dr Anh’s Medispa, we offer numerous treatments that target sagging skin, including:

Platelet rich plasma therapy uses the healing properties found in your own blood to treat a number of concerns, including loose and saggy skin. The PRP is injected into the skin, working to repair tissues and promote collagen production. The result? Smooth, tightened skin.

Exilis for saggy skin

Exilis is a skin tightening treatment that combines ultrasound waves with radiofrequency to heat underneath the surface of the skin. Perfect for skin laxity, exilis works to firm the skin and trigger collagen production. Thread lift for saggy skin

A thread lift is a minimally invasive technique that lifts sagging skin on the face and neck through use of surgical suture threads. With time, the components of the thread are reabsorbed by the body and stimulate the production of collagen to replace depleted facial volume.

Dermal fillers for saggy skin

Dermal fillers are made up of a soft, gel-like substance that is injected into the skin. A great way to plump up the skin and restore lost volume, dermal fillers can help you achieve a more youthful, sag-free appearance.

Thermage for saggy skin

Thermage is a form of radiofrequency skin tightening that works to combat loose and sagging skin. By heating the deep layers of the skin, Thermage causes the collagen fibres to contract, which lifts and contours the skin for a firmer, more youthful look.
