As we go through life many external factors take their toll on our face and necks – leaving us with deep wrinkles, lax skin and an aged appearance.
Unsatisfied with how your face is showing obvious signs of ageing? Smooth your facial skin with a face and neck lift – designed to improve the signs of ageing and give you a more youthful and invigorated appearance.
What is a face and neck lift?
The face and neck lift is a procedure that works to effectively tighten the skin for a more youthful and radiant look. Loose excess skin, fat deposits and underlying muscles in the face and neck (SMAS and Platysma), that have descended and attenuated with ageing, gravity, sun exposure, genetics and environmental stresses, are restored to create a more youthful appearance.
Depending on an individual’s facial structure and personal preference, a face and neck lift can involve:
- Tightening the underlying SMAS and Platysma
- Removing excess fat from the neck
- Recontouring the jawline
- Restoring volume to areas that have lost volume with ageing such as the cheeks (malar eminences), brow and lips
- Removing sagging skin
A facelift can be performed alone or in conjunction with other procedures to rejuvenate the face such as a brow lift, eyelid surgery or laser resurfacing. Dr Anh will discuss the details of the procedure during your consultation and how she can help you recreate a fresh and natural rejuvenated appearance.
What should I expect from my consultation?
During a 45 minute consultation Dr Anh will discuss with you what options are available to you (type of face/neck lift, scars etc), complications and implications if a complication were to occur, the steps that will be taken to minimise these complications, the aftercare steps and expected postoperative recovery.
Long-term results of face lifts
A study in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal in October 2010* by Owsley et al found high patient satisfaction 1 year and 10-15 years after facelift surgery. 1 year after a SMAS/Platysma face-lift, 97.8 percent described an improvement in their facial appearance that was good or had exceeded expectations. After an average follow-up of 12.6 years, 68.5 percent felt the results were good and had exceeded their expectations and felt they looked 10 years younger after a face lift.
