What to expect with Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is used as a way to perfect your outer layer of skin with light abrasive tools and substances. The purpose of microdermabrasion is to improve outer skin quality. A microdermabrasion treatment can unclog your pores, reduce pimples by cleansing the skin and improve overall skin quality. It can also enable easier and more effective application of moisturising creams which can be absorbed by the underlying layers of skin.
During your microdermabrasion treatment miniscule rough grains will be used to exfoliate bad skin away, buffing and potentially improving the outer layer of skin. This outer layer is known as the stratum corneum which is a skin barrier between exterior forces. This will be removed with an abrasion tool, exfoliating away the outer layer of skin.
Microdermabrasion for acne and skin quality
The purpose of microdermabrasion is to improve overall skin quality which includes texture and appearance. Having regular microdermabrasion treatment can improve how ‘clean’ your skin is in terms of oils which cause acne. Exfoliating is one of the main ways you can decrease your risk of acne which is why microdermabrasion is beneficial to people experiencing acne. If you often get pimples, whiteheads or blackheads on areas of your face such as your T-Zone then you will most likely experience improved skin quality and complexion with regular microdermabrasion appointments at our Perth cosmetic clinic and plastic surgery.
FAQs - Microdermabrasion Perth
No, you will not need any recuperation time – in fact you will be able to return to work straight after your microdermabrasion treatment. Microdermabrasion only affects the top layer of skin, not the dermis which means that swelling and redness shouldn’t be a major issue. Some redness should be expected however as the skin will still be exfoliated with our specialised abrasion tools.
Microdermabrasion is one of the safest skin treatments you can receive. It is not invasive and does not use any harmful chemicals. If you have any allergies please inform Dr Anh or her team during your initial consultation.

Microdermabrasion cannot be used for pigmentation removal. If you have temporary sun damage on the top layer of your skin then this can be removed with our microdermabrasion treatment, however freckles and moles which extend into the dermis cannot be removed with microdermabrasion. Laser treatments such as Fraxel or Nd:YAG can achieve freckle removal at our Perth location.
