“Benefits of dermal fillers”
“There are two main causes of wrinkles: loss of collagen and continuous movement of the facial muscles. Here at our clinic, we aim to treat both these causes using a thorough anti-ageing treatment.”
Dr Anh With dermal fillers, you can restore any volume that is lost and plump up the areas where lines and wrinkles are the most prominent.
As we age, our skin becomes looser and more vulnerable to creasing – causing stubborn wrinkles and expression lines.
One of the main signs of aging is volume depletion in the skin, especially around the eyes, temples, mouth and in the cheek area, along with fine lines and wrinkles. As a response to these stubborn creases in our skin caused by facial expressions, gravity or sun damage, Dr Anh uses dermal fillers, as well as an array of other non-invasive treatments, to help her patients look younger, refreshed and more radiant.
What type of fillers do you use?
Unfortunately, according to official medical guidelines for plastic surgeons, we cannot mention the brand names or technical products that are used as fillers at our Perth Medispa. However, we can tell you what we offer in person at your initial consultation with Dr Anh. You can rest assured that we have a broad range of premium branded fillers available. Dr Anh will take you through the pros and cons of each and help you make the best choice based on your specific needs.

How dermal fillers treat wrinkles
One of the most common uses of fillers is wrinkle reduction. Fillers work by ‘filling out’ the wrinkles using a specialised blend of medical ingredients. Dermal fillers are designed to revolumise the area for a number of months before the body naturally metabolises it. Fillers may also prevent lines and creases from becoming deeper as they make it harder for the skin to fold further in these spaces, leaving you with a fresh, more revitalised look for longer. If you want to maintain the volume in your face, you will need to make at least two appointments with Dr Anh every year.

DERMAL FILLERS CAN BE USED TO:

Reduce fine lines & wrinkles
Soften wrinkles, lines, scars and restore or enhance areas that have lost volume due to the natural ageing process.

Achieve a youthful appearance
Instantly plump lines and creases in the face to give your appearance a youthful vitality.

Enhance your lips
Give ageing lips much-needed volume and more definition
Other areas where fillers can be used are in the hollows around the eyes and in the nasolabial folds. They can also be placed in a deeper skin plane to plump the skin and restore youthful vigour. This is commonly used to enhance the appearance and plumpness of the cheeks and other areas where volume is flattering.
Before & after Fillers

Beautiful, natural lips
The lips are one of the most popular areas to plump up. However, many people are worried about adding filler to their lips because they feel it might give them an unnatural appearance. When dermal filler is injected into the lips by a professional such as Dr Anh, this feature will only be enhanced in a way that looks and feels natural.
What can I expect during a filler session?
Once the treated area has been cleaned and prepped, a series of small injections will be used to gradually add volume to the area of concern. A filler session is very quick and can easily be scheduled over your lunch hour. There may be some slight redness and swelling after your appointment but it will be barely noticeable and can easily be covered with mineral makeup if you need to go back to work after your session.
When will the results be noticeable and how long do they last?
The results of your dermal filler treatment will be immediately noticeable. In terms of how long they last, this will depend on the type of filler you and Dr Anh have opted to use. Most dermal fillers last six to twelve months depending on how quickly your body metabolises them.

FAQS
If you can handle the sensation of a fine needle, you will be able to sit through a dermal filler session without any issues. Most patients report minimal discomfort during a dermal filler session because the injections are so quick. However, a topical anaesthetic can always be applied should you be concerned about pain. Your comfort is one of our top priorities. If you would like to receive an anaesthetic, be sure to allocate some additional time for this as it requires half an hour to take effect.
If you are considering any other treatments such as a chemical peel or microneedling, it’s best to schedule it a week before or after your dermal filler session to allow time for the filler to settle and your skin to heal. If you are also looking to reduce the appearance of or prevent expression lines, it is possible to receive fillers and wrinkle relaxers at the same time. There are also certain treatments that can actually enhance the results of your filler sessions, so speak to Dr Anh about a personalised treatment plan.
To give the filler time to settle, strenuous exercise and applying any pressure to the treated area should be avoided. It’s also important to avoid direct sun exposure or any extreme temperatures for at least 48 hours after treatment. Staying hydrated can help improve the results of your treatment and if you want to prevent additional bruising, it’s best to avoid specific medications and supplements – Dr Anh will provide you with a list of what you should avoid.
Unfortunately, there is no exact way to tell until you’ve had a consultation with Dr Anh. Every patient has different requirements, which means a specific number of injections will need to be administered to achieve the desired outcome. Treating multiple areas will naturally require additional injections too. Whether or not you want to combine fillers with additional treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections will also affect the cost.
No, it’s not necessary to keep using dermal fillers. If at any point you would like to discontinue use, your skin will simply return to normal. This does mean that the natural ageing process will start to take effect again.
Yes, dermal fillers are an approved treatment that has been extensively studied. Millions of dermal filler treatments are carried out worldwide every year. The ingredients in fillers resemble substances that occur naturally in the body, which is why side effects and allergic reactions are minimal to none. If you have any concerns, you can speak to your clinician about them during your consultation – we’re more than happy to answer all questions.
